Nominations closing soon for the GapOnly® veterinary awards

GapOnly® is calling on the industry to submit nominations for the 2025 GapOnly® Veterinary Awards, with entries closing later this month.

The inaugural GapOnly® Veterinary Awards, launched in November last year recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions of individuals and practices across the country that have positively impacted industry, community and patient care outcomes.

Veterinarian and General Manager of GapOnly®, Dr Maria Neale, said GapOnly® is proud to have launched the awards program to recognise positive impact within the veterinary field.

This bespoke awards program celebrates the individuals and practices that have gone above and beyond to deliver outstanding service in pet healthcare.

“We have been truly impressed with the volume and calibre of entries so far. The judging criteria is based on a diverse range of factors, some of which include patient outcomes, client feedback, teamwork, collaboration and support for flexible work practices,” she said.

The judging panel consists of industry experts from the veterinary and pet insurance sectors.

The GapOnly® Veterinary Awards span four award categories, including a category for Woman Veterinarian of the Year.

With females representing nearly three quarters or 74% of the veterinarian workforce*, and with the ceremony being held the night before International Women’s Day, we wanted to acknowledge the dedication and contribution of female veterinarians with a standalone category.

“While workplace challenges are faced by all veterinarians, some challenges are unique to women such as gender parity in leadership roles and balancing family and career aspirations, so we wanted to recognise the dedication of female veterinarians despite these challenges,” Dr Neale said.

Nominations are open until 27 January 2025 and can be submitted via the GapOnly® website: GOVA Home | GapOnly. Finalists will be notified and announced in early February 2025.

Category winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony on 7 March 2025 at the Museum of Contemporary Art on Sydney Harbour.

Australian satirist and comedian from ABC’s 7:30 program, Mark Humphries, will host as MC at for the awards ceremony on 7 March 2025, and the ceremony will feature keynote speaker Sam Bloom, author of international best seller “Penguin Bloom”.
